I just started tanking with this DK and was wondering if anyone had any macros or addons that help DK tanking.
Tidy Plates,Tidy Plates:Threat Plates,Omen Threat meter,Deadly Boss Mods,TauntMaster are addons I use they could help you quite a bit.
add ons are easy to look up, especially when you have a client, but I would like to know some tanking macros that had helped me before but are useless now.
the one I used before was:
#showtooltip
/castsequence [mod] Death and Decay; reset=combat Icy Touch, Plague Strike, Pestilence, Death Strike, Heart Strike
/cast [nomod] Rune Strike
does anyone have a better version to this? would greatly appreciate it.
Oh god, don't ever use castsequence macros. Ever. Ah ah ah! Shhhhhh.
Now, the macro(s) that I've found are the most helpful are as follows:
#showtooltip
/startattack
/use [@mouseover, harm, exists, nodead] Death Strike; Death Strike
Make that macro exactly like that for Blood Strike, Rune Strike, your Taunt, Strangulate, Mind Freeze, pretty much any single-target move you'll use while tanking. This basically uses your moves on what you're mousing over as long as it's hostile and a valid target, or uses it on your target otherwise. Coupled with Tidy Plates + Threat Plates, you can see visually your relative threat level on mobs, and in cases where you're tanking them all, which ones are taking the most damage the most quickly and use your aggro moves on them accordingly.
But yeah, there's a number of reasons you never want to use a /castsequence macro, not the least of which is Runic Empowerment procs and of course, you certainly won't be using Icy Touch/Plague Strike/Pestilence once for every death strike and heart strike.
Plague Strike is practically worthless in its current form, and I don't really apply it except in cases where my survival is pretty well guaranteed and I'm wanting to DPS with Blood Boil on AoE packs, or with Dancing Rune Weapon active.
